Meet the Collective: Madelaine Schulze
Born and based in Berlin, Madelaine is one of those people who somehow manages to do everything and still make it look effortless.
When she’s not working with The EdgE, she’s usually throwing herself into something active, adventurous, or mildly chaotic, skydiving, climbing, kickboxing, skiing, or trying yet another new sport because standing still clearly isn’t on the agenda. She’s also a deeply creative person and writes dialogue scripts for dubbing, which means she gets paid to obsess over words. A dream, really.
She brings a lot of energy to the team, not just in the work itself, but in the way she sees the world. Curious, creative, and very much not interested in doing things the same way as everyone else.
Let’s get into it.
What’s something you do differently to most people in your role?
I bring a lot of real-life energy into my work. I don’t just sit behind a screen, I go out, experience things, and let that inspire what I create.
What’s your process when you’re stuck creatively?
I step away. I go for a walk, do one of my hobbies, or cook something nice, then come back with a fresh mind. Works every time.
What’s a trend you think people are getting wrong right now?
Trying too hard to be perfect instead of being real. People connect with personality, not polish.
What makes you stop scrolling?
A strong hook, ideally visual and audio combined. And anything that’s genuinely original, funny, or provoking.
What’s one small thing brands could do better that would make a big difference?
Show more of the human side. Let people in. Building a real connection creates trust.
What’s a small moment in your day you genuinely love?
My mornings. I read for an hour, stay off my phone, make myself a tea, and only then start the day.
What’s your version of a perfect day (no work allowed)?
If there was a way to combine all my hobbies into one day, that would be unreal. I’d end it watching the sunset with my favorite people. A mix of adventure and lots of love around me, that’s my happy place.
What’s something you’re currently obsessed with?
Cold cucumber slices with lime juice and salt. Simple, but elite. Trust me.
What’s a random skill you have that no one would expect?
I can squeak like a guinea pig. Don’t ask why. Just accept it.
Where do you feel most like yourself?
Somewhere between adrenaline, animals, nature, and my loved ones, high up, outdoors, and fully present.
What would your warning label be?
May spontaneously sign up for extreme activities and drag you along.
What’s something you care about way more than you should?
Coming-of-age TV shows.
