Meet the Collective: Kathya Toussaint

Kathya has been part of The EdgE since 2024, working with us across multiple brands as a social media manager, graphic designer, and creative. A freestyle competitor, tunnel instructor, dancer, mum, and creative with a completely unreasonable number of pull-ups in her arsenal, Kathya brings a calm, thoughtful energy to the team, alongside a really strong instinct for authentic storytelling.

She started skydiving in 2010 and discovered tunnel flying just six months later. That passion quickly turned competitive. By 2016 she was a tunnel instructor, and a year later she started competing in freestyle, eventually representing at the World Cup in 2018, the World Championships in 2019, and becoming French National Champion in 2020.

Outside the tunnel, she found that same feeling again through dancehall, something she’d wanted to pursue for years but was initially too shy to try. Turns out the thing she’d always loved about flying wasn’t just the adrenaline, it was expression.

That same perspective shows up in her work too. Human-first, thoughtful, and always looking for the real story underneath the content.

Let’s get into it.

What’s something you do differently to most people in your role?
It’s hard to know what most people are doing, but I’d say I focus heavily on authenticity in content. Real people, real stories. In this day and age, it’s becoming harder and harder to tell what’s real and what isn’t.

What’s your process when you’re stuck creatively?
I either close my laptop and go do something else, or I look for inspiration on Reels. Honestly, it feels like the algorithm reads my mind sometimes, I usually find inspiration pretty quickly.

What’s one thing you wish brands understood about content?
Fancy visuals and polished design aren’t always as effective as telling real stories. In the golden age of AI, the more real something feels, the better.

What makes you stop scrolling?
A strong hook. Something that tells me what it’s about within the first two seconds, makes me laugh, or makes me curious enough to keep watching.

Where do your best ideas usually come from?
Creativity fosters creativity. When I see something inspiring, I immediately start imagining how that same concept could work for the account I’m creating for.

What kind of energy do you bring into a team?
Mediator energy. I’m often the person who understands everyone’s different points of view.

What would your “unofficial job title” be?
The hidden ninja creative. Nobody really knows who’s behind the account. 🥷
