The AI + Creativity Balancing Act (EdgE Collective Style)

AI is everywhere. We’re all using it, figuring things out, increasing our output, hitting frustrations, and learning to grow with it. So we wanted to see how our team is really using AI.

Last week, we hosted an AI + Creativity call. This wasn’t a lecture — it was a space to share wins, vent about the weird stuff, and swap ideas. At some point, we also realized we might need a “digital pass-the-rock” rule so we’re not all talking at once (current best idea: you can only talk when you’re planking).

How We’re Actually Using AI

  • Writing reports faster by having AI compare spreadsheets to drafts.

  • Generating caption ideas, then refining them to match brand voice.

  • Editing grammar, shortening long posts, or turning them into bullet points.

  • Using meeting transcriptions so we can focus on the conversation instead of taking notes.

Where AI Shines for Us

  • An efficiency booster — like Google on steroids, if you know what to ask.

  • A sparring partner for ideas that helps break creative block.

  • Great for repetitive or “hot potato” tasks before passing them to a human.

Where It Falls Short

  • Not a replacement for originality or brand voice.

  • Can be inaccurate — please fact-check everything.

  • Creates fatigue with generic, long-form content.

Tips & Best Practices We Agreed On

  • Always read and refine AI output.

  • Be specific in prompts — include tone, strategy, and context.

  • Balance AI efficiency with human originality.

  • Build prompt libraries and keep experimenting.

This was just the first of many conversations we’ll have on AI at The EdgE. The EdgE Collective is about testing, sharing, and learning together, with plenty of #everydaygoodenergy along the way.
